Why do phones no longer have notification led

What phone do you have? I used to be a huge fan of the led light until they rolled out the always on display, it's much more useful.

My OnePlus 5 has it. I think they might have gotten rid of it with the OnePlus 6. They're going with active notifications or always on display on most phones nowadays.
