I just purchased a "Crosland" brand air filter for my old SAAB. I have also seen them on the web for various applications. They are usually the lower priced alternative to the likes of MANN. The one that I got was pretty cheap, too.

Upon inspection, I am very impressed with the filter I got. It came in a plain carton without any markings other than application info and "Made in USA" label. The filter itself seems to be of excellent quality, way better than any aftermarket filter I have seen for this car. In fact, it looks very similar to the OEM filter, which is 3 times more expensive. Beautiful workmanship! It is probably the best US-made air filter I have ever seen

Has anyone heard about this brand? Who makes them? I have seen their oil filters for sale too.

I use the Crosland oil filters on some of my Jaguars.

They appear to be of good quality.

The Jag oil filters (EBC9658 equiv.) are made in Nottingham, England.

I believe that Crosland is a common aftermarket filter brand in the UK and perhaps in other countries as well. US distribution seems to mostly be via import parts specialists.

Maybe they are like Beck Arnley and buy their parts from various manufacturers. That would explain the Made in the US label you found.

The Crosland filter's I've bought for my old Volvos and Jaguar have all been marked Made in the UK.

I've received reboxed Crosland oil filters from NAPA before, back when I had my turbodiesel Puegeot 505.
I remember being impressed with the quality appearance, but then I've never cut one open. They are made by a company in Europe call Filtrauto. They make several other brands as well. There are data sheets on their website, just remember to select the British flag icon so you can get them in english

Here is the link:

Also, check out this nifty replaceable element spin on canister these guys make!! spin on cartridge and select "spin on filter with rechargeable element" from the menu on the left.

Other countries always get the neat stuff!!

Based on the Triumphs And Hillmans I owned years ago anything related to the british autoindustry is about 15 years behind the US.
Its a cultural thought, but would cause me not to buy.

Thanks for the link, ralan. I couldn't actually get any media filtration data, but will retry

vvk - I run these (too) in my Saab 900. They _appear_ to be well made, but I'd like find out much more about them (especially the above)

Would be interesting to UOA a Crosland vs an OEM
