Maybe not. Grid penalty for a new Turbo, so one might expect it holds together. Still, I wager half a race before mechanical failure.

Which it turns out was caused by a Marshall in Mexico spraying an extinguisher up the exhaust. So not even the fault of red bull or Renault.
 
Unfortunately, with that little episode, it would seem only Brundle was trying to be fair, noting that Vettel did have his engine off, albeit not following instructions properly. He also noted what happened to him when he did something similar, which was getting sent home. Looking back at the records, that had to have been 1991.

Maybe Vettel was just getting even with the officials for wrecking Ricciardo's engine from before.

Max should have won this race, but he left Ocon no room to run on the track after passing him in turn 1. It all happened so fast that neither driver really deserves penalty. Max was driving with more maturity in this race than he has in the past. So he gets another lesson in leaving backmarkers a little more room.
 
Verstappen had a relatively mature drive on track, but this time the "petulant little [censored]" came out in the garage when he confronted Ocon on the weigh scales. He' s still got a lot of growing up to do. At least the FIA penalised him for it.

Nice to see Ricciardo finish one but I felt sorry for Ericsson. Nice double points finish for Haas.
Hartley beat Gasly (even more impressive when Gasly was being asked to wave Brendon through and absolutely refused to do so), so if the unpleasant Austrian is good to his word means Brendon gets to fight another season.

Raikkonen drove a great defensive race. All in all a race with lots of good stuff.
 
Max is becoming something of an Interlagos specialist - some great driving let down by one incident with Ocon. I do side with Max on that one though - Esteban can unlap himself, but he is not racing the leader, so the unlap should be respectful and clean. Yes, Max has more to lose and could have left well alone, but he shouldn't have to get racy with a back-marker. There is a lot of previous between them which no doubt plays a part.

Daniel's move on Sebastian was excellent and no doubt raised a smile. Valtteri seems to have made "support driver" his job title now.

I agree and I'll take it a step further re: the post-race dust-up. I'll begin by saying the obligatory "bad", "wrong", yada yada and then add that it was a display of emotion and passion that has been sucked out of F1 with drivers being polished, PC, PR machines, and for that reason I am totally OK with what happened as long as there was reprimand (there was) and it's kept within bounds (a couple pushes wasn't injurious).

This isn't the first time this year I've been steaming mad at BOT. I understand he's doing what he should for the team but since he more often than not doesn't have what it takes to lead or win, he plays blocker and ruins the races we as fans really want to see.

Nice job for Haas after a dismal Mexican Grand Prix. Looked like MAG probably could've snatched 8th from his teammate at the end but he held back. Let's hope for another double points finish in Abu Dhabi.
 
Yes, Ocon is optimistic to say the least, diving to the inside like that but so is Max. If he didn't turn in and let Ocon stays on the outside, he has clear path to the inside of Turn 3.
Had Max let Ocon pass and stay close behind him, he could have DRS on the next straight which helps extending the precious 1/10 seconds between himself and Hamilton.

Hamilton's comment says it all, Ocon has nothing to lose, words from a wise man.
 
Verstappen's brilliant driving once again marred and overshadowed by his immaturity after the race. He's got to grow out of this.

As I said earlier, I was glad to see the passion and emotion return to the sport where drivers so often look after fuel and tires, don't always go for gaps, report dutifully to the press area, and say relatively benign things. Considering only egos got hurt here and appropriate punishment was issued I found it refreshing to see the drivers emoting.

I think Charlie has mellowed too much over the last two or three years, or is simply past doing the job well. When Lewis had a few attitude issues some years ago in McLaren, they hammered him with serious penalties for some fairly minor transgressions, and I honestly believe it helped him. He still has his moments, of course, but he's not getting involved in a bunch of stuff that puts his race at risk on the track or with the stewards, and that's to his benefit and that of his team.

As much as I like Vettel, his outburst over Charlie should have been met with a one or two race ban. Unfortunately, there now is some precedent for ignoring bad behaviour. I agree with the points made about drivers having and showing personality, but you don't have to act like a total twit and try to start a fight to have personality. Kimi has personality by having no personality. No one denies that Kevin Magnussen is a character.

It's kind of ironic that the last time there was a major incident between a back marker and the leader was at the 2001 Brazilian GP with Jos and Montoya.
 
Funnily enough, Max is labelled as a petulant youngster for his outburst and yet both Senna and Schumacher got involved in post-race argy-bargie following back-marker shenanigans. Those are the best-known ones - there have been countless others across the car and bike racing formulae.
