Planning my first oil change with Delo 10w-30 synthetic blend. According to their website it's actually SN Plus but I'm hoping it has more ZDDP than Valvoline Maxlife...

Yes I've killed a bunch of 4L60Es and now I have another one but I'm going to treat it well. I do plan to change the tranny fluid at some point.

Runs great and it looks really nice compared to most cheap old trucks. No major dents and the paint isn't peeling like a typical GM. Clearly well cared for. Original owner owned it til about 5 months ago!! The guy I bought it from (second owner) is selling it because his 7.3 diesel Ford's transmission went out and he needs money to fix it.

I have a stack of maintenance records for it, MANY new parts, recently AC compressor was replaced as well as catalytic converters and a lot of other stuff.

Thankfully it does have cruise control but it's definitely pretty dumb and harsh compared to the smooth 96+ OBD2 Vortec cruise control. Still, cruise control is one of my favorite vehicle features. I did find myself trying to hit "next song" on the steering wheel controls... that it doesn't have. Sorry, I'm used to my Escape! lol.

What I need to do/fix:
-Oil change
-Change all other fluids for maintenance reasons.
-Minor power steering fluid leak
-Sloppy steering - typical GMT400...
-Tires. Might be able to get the almost brand new Hankook Dynapro AT-Ms off the 98 Suburban I sold my friend. He owes me money for something else so maybe we'll trade tires to clear the balance.
-It already has a Bluetooth head unit but the speakers are total garbage
-Drivers side mirror housing is taped together, but the power functions still work so this is not important.
-Drivers door doesn't open with key, but it has power locks and windows so it's not a big deal.
-Bench seat doesn't move, so it's stuck pretty far back. I'm pretty tall but the previous owner was a bit taller than me so I gotta fix this because it's a little uncomfortable to drive.
-Need to get a toolbox, camper shell, tonneau cover, or something... an open long bed doesn't do me much good...
-Gotta tint that rear window

You live in the SF Bay area? You can probably throw a mattress in the bed, install the camper shell and rent the space out at night for $500 a month.

if i park it in san francisco i could charge more than $500 but i'd have to worry about the homeless people pooping on my tires... that happened to my friend!

But... but... I thought San Francisco was supposed to be some great socialist, border-free Utopia! There are people pooping on tires?

Congrats on the truck, at typical GM 350 wear rates, you've probably got a 355 by now from cylinder wall erosion- don't shy away from heavier oils!

Yup, the interior is so much better than the 88-94 setup that requires a PHD to work the climate control.

Regular cab long bed. The bed included a large quantity of free moldy fruit of some unknown variety.

The tbi engine were fairly easy to diagnose and work on.

If you plan on using the 4wd much convert the front axel actuator to the newer electronic servo style. The old thermal style takes a long time to engage as they age nd get to the point where they won't engage when the vehicle isn't moving.

Put new pins and bushing in the doors before they start to sag.

My Parents had 95 K2500 with the 6.5 turbo diesel. Lost track of injection pumps replaced. One transmission replaced, but Parents loved that truck. Like how yours looks!

i would have bought a 1991 Chevy 3500 with the 6.2 diesel but the seller seemed shady and there was some weird paperwork situation involving the title so I cancelled on that idea and bought the one I ended up with

That's a nice truck! I had a 96' C1500 5.7L Vortec, extended cab short bed. Loved that truck to death, wish I still had it.

I'm amazed that truck hasn't hit the crusher in Cali. Think about injectors. They get pretty sorry (but still work) in the long haul. New set will save you fuel and fuel dilution.

Actually been thinking about that. I have receipts that show a full tune up with quality parts (seems everything was Delco except for an Accel coil) but no mention of fuel injectors. I don't want remanufactured junk but on Rockauto the Standard and ACDelco have the exact same picture. I can get BWD (Standard) through work.
