Successful day of cutting, stopped the mower to talk to my wife. Well tried to re-crank and saw electrical bolts through the throttle crack where the ignition is. It lasted for about 3 seconds and then nothing. Totally lost the electrical system, including fairly new battery.
What happened to my JD?

My guess: Coil broke open and the particular conditions grounded the battery.
Might have a loose connection/short somewhere which popped a fuse. Make sure all connections are tight and if you see a fuse for the electrical system make sure it isn't blown. The fuse blew on my John Deere and it wouldn't start once due to mice chewing a wire.
Need more info is this a x500,212, 316, 110? etc.
Did you test the battery what is its voltage?
What you did wouldnt destroy a battery.. that fast..
Probably a wire grounded out somewhere and popped something.
Maybe even your ignition switch failed.
