Something I've been thinking about...

Any problems using a high-mileage 10w-40 in an old gas-engine tractor (that has been using 15w-40 HDEO for years and years)?

esters may not be compatible with old seal matierials.

I have a 1963 Ford 2000 tractor. The hour meter broke at over 2000 hours. I have no idea when that was, so how many hours it has on it would be a guess. I run Shell Rotella 15-40 in it. I use this tractor in my business. I've never had a problem with that oil. I run it in every piece of equipment and every truck now.

Ya think so gearhead?

I'd think the esters would be fine with older materials ... and their conditioning/sweeling effects are pretty mild, anyway.

Along with the HDEOs that 65Hoss, Jelly and myself use, I'd think one of the high-mileage oils would be a great choice.
