I just found my old small bottle of WD-40,. Typically I neeed to spray Kroil or silikroil to my sliding door wheel every month especially after rain, otherwise the door is very difficult to slide open. WHen I use Kreen, the first few minutes the door will stil quite heavy because the wheel will slide on the railing rather than rotating.

This round since I found unused WD-40 that perhaps I have kept almost 10 years, I just use it to spray the sliding door wheel. Surprisingly it penetrates better than aeroKroil, and let the wheel rotate rather than slide.
I thought it is a placebo, and I tried on other 3 doors with same result.

Just surprised that the cheapo WD 40 works better on corroded door wheel than aerokroil.

Its a rolling door you would say. Sliding is a misnomer.

RANT:
Sliding doors are not they great and prone to creating injuries to pets and humans. They should be banned and replaced with French doors. Bedroom sliding closet doors are bad design too; We are stupid for buying this stuff for so long. It ain't "it is what it is". We know how to innovate - at least We USED TO last century.

I was wondering where my roll of tinfoil went. French doors are so 1995.
If you are getting injured by a patio door, you might want to wear a helmet full-time.

Agree … When my son was 10 … he walked really fast into those (blame Windex) glass doors …
(20 minutes with mom & a good ice pack and was OK) …
… we considered changing them … but after he “load tested” the glass … decided to bolt, seal, & block them off …
Then we could do more with furniture inside and on the patio too …
(Made them windows) …

My brother in law moved into a house with a sliding glass door. When moving they accidentally hit it with something and it broke into huge heavy sharp pieces. Definitely dangerous.

IMHO. WD-40 has its uses. but doesnt last long. i think of it as a temporary lubricant.

^^^^^ THIS^^^^^^^

..... plus Kroil has much better anti-rust properties.
I use WD40 in my toilet bowl for cleaning & long-lasting porcelain film ... also in the top-tank for lubrication (all-plastic there and will not rust).

Nowhere else.

I use wd-40 for wiping down my tools after a dirty, greasy job. It cleans the gunk off without being harsh, leaves just enough of a rust inhibiting film; plus it smells nice and is cheap.

Kroil is a great penetrating oil but Liquid Wrench penetrating oil works just as good and costs 1/3rd the price.

Never tried Kroil, however WD-40 Specialist Rust Release Penetrant Spray and PB Blaster both work nicely. I use the standard WD-40 as a quick temporary lube and for cleaning tools and other things.
