Does low speed pre-ignition only happen with direct injection engines with a turbo or are all direct injection engines included. Also how does the engine oil play a part in preventing it from happening.I thought all of these types of concerns would be a software issue.thanks Joe

For the most part it happens in turbo GDI engines though I have read of a few accounts that happened in naturally aspirated engines. Calcium was shown to be a precursor so the newer oils have less calcium in them.
