Hi,

I just bought a new Arctic Cat 500 with manual transmission. As it approaches it's first oil change I've been looking at my oil choices. I won't be using Amsoil or Schaeffer's even though I do use Schaeffer's in my Power Stroke. I'd like to use a synthetic 0W-40 or 5W-40 or 50. Temps here in Montana can very widely, so I want a synthetic with superior low temp flow in the winter. I'd use the Schaeffer's 9001 (5W-50 racing) since it's rated for motorcycles and ATV's BUT I'm not going to buy it 5 gallons at a time (Don't tell my Schaeffer distributor)!

My uncle owns a NAPA parts store. I get everything at cost, so I was wondering if the auto grade (the only one they stock) of Mobil 1 would be okay. I know I have a wet clutch, but I don't think there are enough friction modifiers in it to be a problem. Any comments?

Thanks, Todd

Shell ROTELLA® T Synthetic 5W-40
Would be a good choice.
Mobil 1 0w-40 would be fine also.
