Taken in roughly 1995. The little girl in my arms (and wearing my hat, a favorite thing to do...) is now in her 3rd year of medical school...

More recently, last month, as I was aboard USS MIDWAY for a retirement ceremony.

Still love walking aboard a ship!

I know it sounds odd, but it's both familiar and exciting.

After the ceremony, I took some time out to speak wth a group of Boy Scouts, who were there for an overnight stay aboard. An impromptu tour of the F-14 and a discussion on leadership and the importance, as well as relevance, of scouting principles.

I'm the tall one. This was taken at a Saudi AB near the Jordan border in 1990 for a joint SAR tactics exercise. Best job I ever had.

This was CAC-11 before a patrol flight leaving from a Canadian Air Force on Prince Edward Island. This was in the summer of 1966. I am the second from the right on the front row kneeling. Skinny then at 21 years old. The plane was a P2V Neptune. Home base was NAS Brunswick, Me.

What an incredible era. Not really long ago in the scheme of things. But seems like a long time ago to me (born 1979).
