Thought this was helping keep the trans fluid clean; I guess not.

30 days/580 miles as trans. cooler line filter:

(unsure which sub-forum best applied since this is an engine oil filter used as a trans. filter)

Not cool. At least you found it.

What prompted you to pull the filter and cut it open after only 580 miles/30 days?

The trans only has a screen type "filter". Just curious to see what it might have filtered out.

Based on the appearance of the glue, I don't think the joint was ever together.

Thanks, it wouldn't be impossible to fit a larger filter, but space is lacking.

Wix 51269 currently installed.

That may be. I don't recall seeing this problem before.

My Saturn uses a spin on filter. I doubt the media adhesive for the spin on transmission filter is any special formula different than oil filter' s adhesive.

I just cut this Purolator made Bosch oil filter, what a beauty!

Tig1 - this is the second Purolator made Filter this week which demonstrated a seam split. Purolator QC is non-existent. I’m seriously considering pulling the P1 I have on the Ranger and putting an eCore in it’s place. At least the eCores don’t tear or split.

Bosch with seam split

Will do. The last one was good except for startup rattle.
