I'd say HAM is due for a mechanical failure but Merc. seems to have the reliability of that power unit perfectly worked out along with a team of great mechanics.

These gremlins seem to come and go with these different teams like a virus. Now they're plaguing Ferrari. I remember Hamilton having issues last year. Now they seem to have it right. Look at Verstappen. How many DNF's has he had this year compared to his teammate. What I can't understand with Ferrari, is how they seem to be popping up at the last minute in the garage, or else on the grid. Especially when you look at how much time is spent on these cars, by so many mechanics and engineers. All going over everything with a fine tooth comb for hours and hours.

No way, Lewis is getting his edge from adding MMO to his oil!

Or is it Slick 50??

Naw. He getting more protection by running heavier weight oil. And staying away from those horrible Fram filters, that can destroy an engine on the way home from Jiffy Lube!

Heaven forbid, though, if Alonso gets held up by back markers, in the rare occasion that he's not one of them.

billt460: I think that's what's gotten Sergio all riled up, this last aspect to all these gremlins. Supposedly, the car is cleared in the garage to hit the grid, then something's inexplicably and suddenly wrong. Or, a fast fix is made because a problem is found, and then someone claims the problem is fixed, no more problem, then someone else is retiring a lap or two later. Sergio does way too much micromanaging and probably freaks too many people out, but for this issue, I don't blame him in the least for raising a big stink. As for missing the anthem, it will be Vettel's worry if he gets another reprimand and a grid penalty. There's one thing to have bad luck, and another to intentionally load the dice against oneself. He got a DNF and zero points. Standing over the mechanics' shoulders didn't do any good, and just brought about more disciplinary risk.

Highlight of the day:

Takuma Sato doing the post-race interviews wearing his Indy 500 Champions ring. HAM noticed it right away saying, "You got some bling. Where's this from? I love that! I need that ring!" When Sato came back for the second time, Hamilton makes Sato take the ring off so HAM can try it on for size. "Can I try this ring? Just so I know if it's worth me going and doing one day?"

Bring it on HAM.

The spoiled brat also left the track without doing the mandatory media. I hope his actions DO get him a grid penalty and cost him any chance at the championship. Maybe he would learn something. No.....that's asking too much. VET seems to believe his mediocre driving skills had something to do with four consecutive championships. It was the car, dummy.

Buxton posted the scoop on this after the race. Media interviews were conducted behind the Ferrari garage; however, the problem is interviews are officially supposed to be done in the media corral. Consequently, most reporters were not aware of this unofficial change and din't get to speak with VET after the retirement. VET's media escort was reprimanded for this.

Yeah, ironic after earlier in the year he questioned the level of difficulty/skill required to drive the Indy 500.

Some of the mandatory media stuff needs to disappear. Print media isn't what it used to be. Even when it was, and the websites now, most of the after race coverage is just exactly what they said, verbatim, in the post race press conference or from a quick interview while the race was still ongoing, and these are the same questions, over and over. Ferrari personnel in general refuse to speak to English media. It's just a stupid mess.

They don't need a reporter, just an MP3 player to hand to whichever driver has retired from the race, asking them what happened and how they feel about the retirement. It's the same question race after race, year after year. There isn't a need to pay someone to ask those same two questions. Guys like Niki and Sir Jackie must be ready to keel over when they hear it after all these years.

All they need is Buxton for mandatory media time. He's actually very savvy and asks many of the question whose answers the motorsport websites package and repackage into stories until the next GP.

If that were so, then Webber probably never should had a seat in anything besides a back marker, and Kimi and Valtteri are in the wrong jobs, too.

I remember when they were giving Lewis a hard time for messing with his phone during the press conference. It was probably the only thing that kept him awake for the snore fest. They should all do Kimi style one word answers for a few weeks.
