My only concern is their 0W40 closeouts and their Valvoline VR1.

I bought 50 or 60 quarts of VR1 for .99 cents. The bike runs through it pretty quick though.

Part of the reason I've been watching this section of the forum like a hawk lately lol

Actually, I was at a AAP on Saturday (Lakeville, MN). I saw a cart at the front of the store with a bunch of 10/30 Defy on it. I was ready to grab a half dozen, then took it up to get it scanned. $3.xx a quart. I said 'no thanks'!

The sale usually doesn't begin until the first week in November. And some stores are slower to respond. Typically, they've marked down 50% in the first month. Then in December, the big mark downs sometimes come to $1 or less.

I agree that the recent AAP sale (with QS rebates) will be very hard to beat. I just picked up QSUD today at 75c/qt. And that's before the $1.40/quart rebate. Cheapest oil I've ever gotten at the AutoZone clearances is $2/qt for synthetics. Last year, a number of Bitogers were lucky to find Pennzoil and QS on sale for $2/qt and were able to apply the rebates to net out at 0c-60c/qt for Sopus Synthetics.

I haven't used any Pennzoil rebates this year. So if we get $2/qt at AZ...I'm in for the $48 Pennzoil rebate limit....for "free" oil (not counting tax).

+1

Most that laugh at threads like this would not step over a $20 bill found on the ground. Same thing with buying cheap and stacking deep.

Not necessarily laughing at saving money, I'm all for it. Just picturing a bunch of guys licking their lips and setting their alarms for 3am preparing for an oil sale that's 2 months away.

Still loling

I just stop in stores that I pass by anyway. If I have some free time, I'll cruise to a few stores I haven't been to before. Been to a few areas around Orlando I've never been to; some I probably won't go back to!

I wouldn't wake up at 3AM, but I do admit to getting a little excited walking into an AAP and seeing several quarts or jugs of QSUD on the shelf without the red sticker undearneath, knowing that they'll ring up way cheaper at checkout. For that, I guess that makes me a little quirky lol

Hate to break it to you, but your perception does not meet reality.

First of all, it is not a sale but a clearance. Secondly, outside BITOG, most of the general public does not even know about it and in many cases, the store employees do not know until you throw it on the counter and is scanned at the clearance price. Many AutoZones are too lazy to change the shelving price tags to reflect the clearance price and basically becomes a word of mouth affair on BITOG. Most times you can still find the clearance stuff around well into January in some stores because it is so disorganize.

Yeah, it's more like a treasure hunt or scavenger hunt. It's up to the local managers so one store will be at full price and the other will be discounted. And then the one at full price will put it on clearance a few weeks later so you just have to hunt around and maybe come back later to see if it goes on clearance later. Because it's not a sale, it doesn't have the black friday madness to it, you just look around once some people mention that it's on clearance.
