Why is it that when I do not need a battery, great coupons come up making me question if I should get a battery, even though it may not be needed for awhile?

On that note, are there any deals out there right now?

The Bosch AGM with 4 year warranty are really good on cost per warrantied year of service basis when Pep Boys has a good on-line discount code. It's what I'm looking at for replacement batteries on my fleet when the time comes.

The TRICK is to learn how to replace your battery(s) BEFORE they fail.
- if they are not 'abused' (deeply discharged) - replace every 3 years (in vehicles) to insure trouble-free - bought on a special.

(I actually keep my 3yo batteries a couple more years for use on non-vehicle applications, and trade in a 'truly dead' or 5-6yo one on the new - that way I always have good batteries on all my uses) . . . smile

I am having incredible luck with Walmart Ever Start batteries in Florida where it's notorious to kill batteries. My son's truck is going on 5 years and my Dodge on 4 years. Much longer than the Auto Zone Duralast batteries and Advance prices are insane. I'd buy Walmart again.

I don't see any saving in replacing a battery before it fails. It's money you needn't spend until the time comes, better in your bank than the auto parts store.
Florida is notorious for killing batteries?. Arizona heat or Minnesota winter perhaps. hat happens in Florida that is so hard on batteries?.

Yep. And you never know when you'll get stranded with dead battery.

I had a Panasonic (OEM battery) in my Accord last 7 years, but the car got driven daily. That same battery in my mom's car wouldn't last as long because she drives very short distances.

I'd rather not have to be stuck needing a jump start. It's not that hard to see if your battery is getting weak, though. When you start hearing "slower" cranking sounds when starting the car you can hook up a simple voltmeter to the battery. If it drops below 10 volts when cranking it's worth considering replacement. The places that sell batteries can load test it to be sure. That's what I did with my last battery. It was a little over four years old and it was dropping to less than 7 volts when cranking. It was nice, for once, to have learned how to check it myself so I didn't end up stuck needing a jump and having to rush to buy a battery from a place that wasn't my first choice.

Two batteries
Chevy Duramax the original AC Delco lasted 8 years and winter was coming. I replace them with two Sears DieHard Gold they were on sale with free instillation.

Toyota Corolla OEM battery lasted 8 years winter was coming I changed to a battery I got from Les Schwab. I was disappointed in the Schwab battery it never failed me but was loosing its strength. I went back to a Toyota original equipment battery this Summer 84 month guarantee with free instillation on coupon.

The Duramax is a 2006 and the Corolla is a 2004 neither of these cars have every had a jump.

. Heat speeds up sulfation, the chemical process that ends battery capacity. Want a battery to last a long time? Just keep it cool.
