Post Your Latest (Motorcycle) Oil Change!

M1 15w50 in the 2005 BMW R1200GS

25k miles on bike and will run for 5k miles

Prior to this, the bike has had Rotella 15w40 for a couple of changes.

Bike: 2004 CBR150R. 1 litre of oil per change. No oil filter.

Oil: Shell Rimula R4X 15w40 Mineral

Didnt record mileage clocked, but used it for about 11 days doing food delivery in a stop-go urban environment.

Shifts nicely when new, started feeling a little roughness in shifting at around the 8-9th day and gets noticably notchier on the 10-11 day.

Drained out like water (compared to the new oil going in) when I did the oil change yesterday. Smooth shifting lasts longer than the previous oil I used (Pennzoil Fastrac 4T Titanium Synthetic).

Will be doing an oil change next week to see how it goes. Overall happy with the cost to performance ratio of the oil at the moment.

2005 V-Star 650 Classic @ 18,184 miles

Out - 2.5L 50/50 Shell Rotella T4 15w40 & T6 5w40, 1718 miles OCI
- rear differential - 0.19L Maxima Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-90, 9539 miles OCI

In - 2.5L 50/50 Shell Rotella T4 15w40 & T6 5w40, Fram CH6004 filter
- rear differential - 0.19L Maxima Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-90

end of season oil changes...late autumn, winter storage, early spring

both moto & scoot got a frankenbrew...leftover frankenbrew of synthetc 15w-40 (amsoil), synthetic 10w-40 (suzuki moto), various conventional 15w-40 & 10w-40 oils and new frankenbrew of conventional 15w-40 & 10w-40 oils; the bike got a new fram ch6004 filter & left the current hiflo filtro hf197 on the scoot (less than 1500 miles in use prior to oil change)

the moto went into storage without any ride time on the oil & the scoot has @ 350 miles without any issues; if weather allows riding into 2nd half of November I might do another oil-filter change on the scoot (same frankenbrew & hiflo filtro hf183)...not a fan of storing with oils that have 500+ miles on them (guess it's OCD)

2016 Indian Chieftain...total miles...6826
Out...Amsoil 20-40 V-Twin
In @ 6390...Mobil 1 V-Twin...20-50...NAPA Gold filter....Noticed much improved shifting and less engine noise with the Mobile over the Amsoil.

1994 VT 1100 Shadow (actually done on October 4).
7,580 miles on the bike.

Out: Supertech 15w-40 and Supertech 6607 filter, just over 500 miles on them.

In: Peak 15w-40 syn-blend and a Toughguard 3593a filter.

I plan on 2,500 mile intervals (may go to a 2,500 mile oil and 5,000 mile filter)

2012 Can Am Spyder, Rotax VTwin.
Out, Mag1 10w40 Mag1 and factory Rotax filters, engine and trans. The Mag1 looks stout on paper, I'd run it again.
In, Amalie 10w40 and 20w50 50/50 mix, K&N engine filter (WM closeout) and Rotax trans filter.
The Spyder shears oil like crazy, I've given up on UOA, they all come back out of grade range after a couple thousand miles. Brad Penn, Valvoline, Mobil, LubroMoly... they all were out of grade.
I just go 3k now, spike it with a heavier grade if I feel like it, and just ride.

2008 Aprilia Scarabeo 100.
Out, Redline 10w40, no filter, just a screen that gets cleaned. Shockproof in the rear drive hub.
In, Royal Purple 10w40. Royal Purple 75w140 in the rear.
Let the winter snooze proceed.

Changed the motor oil and filter on 10/15.Valvoline mineral mc 20/50 wt. Changed the primary oil 10/ 29, out with Rotella 15/40 wt mineral, back in with the same.4900 miles on both. I left the trans gear oil in, as it only has 10k on it.,,,

1994 VT 1100 Shadow

2,470 miles on oil, 10,014 miles on the bike.

Out: Peak 15w-40 syn-blend and a Toughguard 3593a filter.

In: More Peak 15w-40 syn-blend and a Purolator PSL 14610 (thanks again DuckRider).

I will possibly go more than 2500 miles this time.
Shifting was still fine with the oil, although I am a little worried about the PSL (but not a lot).

1981 Honda 750 cafe racer...31,000 miles..I installed new rings and valve guide seals...Initial fill was Rotella 15-40 T4 then just changed the oil, using Hiflo filters, Quicksilver 20/50...Seems to have less clutch rattle now than with the 15-40 Rotella

'13 Genuine Buddy 125...done a few weeks ago; filter is a Taiwan made aftermarket (oem approved) that fits multiple scooters (Vespa, Genuine, etc)...bought at a Genuine Scooter dealer; oil...frankenbrew from a 2 1/2 gallon container of Traveller & Valvoline 15w-40 with leftover frankenbrew from last year's oil changes (mostly 10w-40 & 15w-40 with some 10w-30 hdeo) --- doing 1k oil change intervals with filter every 3k

'14 Yamaha V Star 250...will be done soon; filter will be Yamaha oem or HiFlo Filtro HF145; oil will be mix of 1qt Mobil Delvac 15w-40 & 1qt Pennzoil conventional 10w-40 sm rated (both bought on clearance at different stores); leftover oil will be used for topoffs --- doing 2k oil change interval with filter at 4k; subsequent oil change will be from frankenbrew mentioned above...

Changed the oil on my 06 Yamaha R1

out/off Rotella 15/40 and Q-state 14612 filter

put in a mixture of Rotella 15w40 and 5w40, about 75 percent 15w40 and 25 percent 5w40

I meant to put on a Supertech 6607 but after installing it and running the bike i found it to be leaking around the gasket, its like i couldn't get the filter tight, like it turned on fine and then just stopped like it bottomed out on the threads or something, anyways it didn't feel right when i tried to tighten it again and again so i removed it and installed a Bosch distance plus filter instead in the same size and that one went on fine and tightened like it should and didn't leak.

very strange, first time thats happen, the difference in the filters were the the bosch was a little bit longer, i should take a look inside the supertech and see if there was some interference with something in the filter and filter stud. only thing i could think of that would be an issue.

anyways...

1981 Honda CB750....Bought bike with unknown history but it leaked oil and had no air filter ... Pulled the engine ,pulled the head and cylinders, put in new rings on the existing pistons, replaced valve guide seals and all the gaskets...First oil in was Rotella T4 15-40 used for about 75 miles. Rings seated quickly..Then a change to Quicksilver 20/50 bike oil....I think the engine has the faint sound of valve clatter with the Quicksilver...And first gear makes a slight crunch going in...
