Chainsaw for Home yard tasks

I just did a lot of cleanup in the Virgin Islands after Irma. I was concerned about bringing even a new gas saw in an airplane, and ran out of time in my preparations to get a makita. I got a ryobi brushless, and it cuts REALLY well for 4-6" limbs.

The issue is battery. Its a 40v, 55Wh battery. That's tiny. I can do 8-10 through cuts of a 4-6" limb/tree on a battery charge.

55Wh from a 40v battery means cells of approximately 1.4Ah.

Makita offers a brushless saw and sells 2-5Ah batteries. It uses two standard 18v batteries to make 36v. 36V and 5Ah is like 150Wh, 3x the capability of the ryobi saw I got to take down.

Nothing replaces a gas saw for a ton of cutting. But if you don't use it a lot, and your work tempo allows, the battery saw can do some great work, especially if you're already invested in a system like makita 18v tools.

I'd never solely go electric for leaf blowers or weedwackers or mowers, but fir something like a saw just used for very seldom use, it's not bad.
