Member, Virtus_Probi recently shared how Valvoline's Synthetic w/MLT appears to be the the first brand with this upgraded approval. Now they've garnered approval for the mainstream VSP as well.

Again, the "Gen2" addition denotes this product passed a more stringent test than Dexos1 alone for the oils ability to combat LSPI, important for Turbo Direct Injection applications.

I'm curious how much their formula changed. Did they drop the sodium? That is the biggest question I'm wondering since the new PDS doesn't have that information.

Actually they use a different kind of sodium. It is fair trade accessed, free range, cage free, non-GMO, sustainable, vegan, organic, bio-degradable, sea salt.

Valvoline SynPower also has Dexos1 Gen2 yep they better sell that stuff down that isn't marked correctly and move it out or no one will buy it.

Me too. We may have to wait for PQIA for that.

I plan on draining the Gen2 valvoline in the 1.5L DI-turbo engine in about a month or two, so maybe will do a UOA to find out if Valvoline has gone on a sodium-free or reduced-sodium diet..

.. After reading an Infineum web page, it seems Valvoline can't possiby hang on to their old Na-Ca combination anymore, as it appears to induce LSPI.

Virtus_Probi has claimed M1 EP and M1 AP is Gen2 now. That still doesn't show up on the web page http://www.centerforqa.com/dexos-brand2015/ but seems like it is probably true.

Might be sooner than later if they are using the same ad pack as Valvoline. They have a non advertised special at my NAPA store for $3.49 a quart you have to buy a case.

Mobil shows Gen2 on the specs listed on their website. Here is the link for M1 EP.

M1 AP and regular M1 5W-20 and 5W-30 has it listed as well.

I should have said Valvoline is the first to Walmart, not first to have approval. My fault.
