What manual tranny did you cut your teeth on?

My 1st car was a Morris Minor, but for 20 years nearly every car I drove was manual, so I learned on everything on our roads at the time.

I learned how to use the clutch in much the same manner as ypw above. Let it out slowly with no gas. The idea was to see and feel where the contact point was. We sat in a empty grocery store parking lot at night letting out the clutch, move about a foot, then push the clutch back in. The gas part came next lesson.


Sadly most people cannot do that anymore as parking lots are dread zones in most cities. You would just be a target these days.
