I only use BG109 as an additive. Works well

Almost never do engine flushes, except marine engines that go under water ...

And why in the name of Zeus would you do engine flush?

Just run 5W-40 HDEO and a can of BG109 at each change and change oil at 3~5K. In a year or so, it will be spotless inside

If you loosen the crud any faster, it'll plug the oil pump intake screen and you will loose oil pressure

As skeptical as I was BG109 really cleared my stuck rings once on a high mile modular v8 4.6L from Ford. I used 2 cans for 45 minutes of idle action. AFAIR, BG doesn't recommend driving with the cleaner for longer than a few minutes, but I am not going to argue with real life experience of success, if such exists.
