My autometer 2242 oil pressure sender quit literally 3 days outside of warranty. It had maybe 3k miles on it. Replacement would be about $60CAD, not super expensive, but this is not a repair I want to keep doing.

I did some research, and found that the 2242 has a resistance range of about 240-33ohms, 240ohms being 0psi and 33ohms being 80ish psi.

So naturally I looked at various OE oil pressure senders and it appears that most AMC engines used a 240-33ohm sender with 1/8NPT fittings.

This looks almost identical to the autometer sender and supposedly has the same ohm range and only $20. I'm going to give this a shot and hopefully have a more reliable or at least cheaper alternative than the autometer senders, which apparently fail rampantly.

Are you sure your current sender is 1/8 NPT? I have a manual oil pressure tester and it came with a bunch of adapters so there are many sizes in use.

1/8 NPT, is national pipe thread which is a tapered thread designed to jam while tightening to seal the joint.

It picks up ground via the thread so you should not use Teflon tape.

Yes, the autometer sender is definitely 1/8npt. It also includes a 1/4 not adapter as pictured. This will hopefully be a cheap alternative.

Good point about the paste instead of tape. Lots of people forget that the threads are supply the sender's ground.
