Annual Protection? not a year or 20,000 miles. Am I missing something.

It's the new Mobil 1 annual protection. Only did a 5200 mile oil change interval. Engine has just over 100,000 miles on it

I know you only did 5000 miles. Tbn drop is not linear, but 3.5 ..my eyes need checking?? AP would not make 20k in this case.10k maaaaybe.

That is quite disappointing. I was looking forward to using that oil one day, not anymore though... Yea, I'll stick to Pennzoil cocktails.

Mobil has implied its the anti-oxidants that make it last to 20k miles. Those wouldn't show up on a UOA. Not enough to judge this oil. Iron wear looks about normal and who knows how the pistons look. Can't tell much.

TBN does seem too low though for that short run. Not great.
Also could be better base oils of course in this product, not just anti-oxidant superiority.

tbn could be fine if it holds - you need two tests to determine though, and learn little from just one.
