I love working on my bikes but when the heat & humidity hit, my garage time is greatly reduced. I recently picked up a large fan off of CL that could fit my needs.

Yeah, it looks a little rough. Maybe a little paint might help.

How about some new pillow block bearings?

Maybe some lumber and new casters.

I also needed a new motor.

So after all my time and effort I have a nice mobile shop fan. Could I have bought one cheaper? Probably

My wife has already told my that I need some chicken wire for safety....I get it.

But it was fun and I like it.

While you surely could have gotten a new fan for less money, I like that you restored that one and it looks and functions great. You can't put a price on garage therapy. Good job you did there!

Looks great, bet it moves a lot of air. Only suggestions i have , are 1. a guard of some sort( both sides). 2. replace a couple of wheels with locking caster wheels.

Hope you don't have a cat or small dog that could walk into that thing while it's running. I know... Kinda gruesome but just be careful.

I might have put that up on the wall with a gravity louver so it blows hot air out the top of the garage and draws cool, outside air in.

Good job!

That's an old whole house fan and they can move mega CFMs of air, okay maybe just 5k to 6K but, they are very quiet being belt driven.

Yeah, those are bad a##. We have them at work, love their logo!

I really like this. agree for chicken wire. intake and belts probably the most critical areas to shield. Your finished product is really nice. 5 stars.
