So my son had to replace the water pump and the heater core on the Durango. I don't recall the year right now. He had been adding distilled water for many months now but finally has gotten to the point he can get the parts to do the job. Right now he is going to run some Prestone flush for a few days in hopes of clearing up some rust that was visible in a few places.

When he flushes the Prestone out he would like to fill the system with some G05 we already have on hand. He is wondering if there may be any reason he should not run it instead of some universal coolant? Thanks for the input.

+1 on the G-05. We have a 2004 Dakota and a 2008 Commander both with the 4.7 V8. G-05 serves them well.

Thanks everyone. I will proceed with the G05 in his Durango. I was hoping for personal experiences with this and I got them. Again, thanks.
