I've got a 2002 silverado z71 stock except for the wheels which are from a 2015 silverado. they have a 24mm offset and are 8.5 inches wide. What is the max diameter of tire that would be feasible with a 1.5 inch body lift? I'm currently running 265 65 r18 tires.

It's a Z71, what are you doing with 18's ... You go off-road much?

In the rocks and rough stuff, you need sidewall to absorb the irregularities. That's why most off-road stuff gets 15" rims with big rubber.

You should be OK with 32" OD, but the width will be determined by the rim width. If going off-road, you want the tread at least a 1/2" wider than the rim width. That way when you air down, you will not expose so much sidewall bulge to rocks, roots and other hazards ...

Unfortunately 17s are the smallest wheels that will fit over the brakes & tie-rod ends on late model GM/Chev 1500s
275/70/18s are 11X33s & work great on 8-9" wide rims. Deep tread 3-ply sidewall models will roll out at 33.3" od.
I was thinking Hankook's RF-10 or Cooper ST MAXX.

Birdman; I read through the off road truck forums and most of them plug the 275/70/18s as the largest go-to size without trimming & cutting.
But, there are more choices every year in the next size down.... the stock 3500s 265/70/18 which is 10.5X32.6 and 32.9 in Toyo's CT and other deep tread 3-ply sidewall tires.
Your 18x8.5 stock off-set wheels would be perfect with this size, with no rubbing even at full crank.
My son has 265/60/20s from my 2500 D-Max on his 2013 SLT 1500. I put 275/65/20s my 2500, LTX/AT summer on the stock 20X8.5s and studded Hankook RW-11s on 20X9" wheels Oct 1st to April 30th. That's a long time with noisy tires, but required on high elevation mountain passes.
Show up with all season tires, and the cops will turn you around at the bottom of the hill.
