Silicone can cause issues with sensors. Having said that, there's nothing wrong with carefully applying the thick silicone vacuum grease on a filter gasket to make a better seal. Just be sure how much you are using and where it's going. Manufacturers recommend silicone grease for weatherstripping, which is made of the same type of foam material.
