Turkish president’s bodyguards battered Washington DC protesters during a peaceful march, leaving them covered in blood. One is in critical condition.

So basically officials of a foreign government just came into our country and assaulted our private citizens.

Here's a video of Turkish bodyguards repeatedly kicking an American woman in the face:

It just doesn't stop. Be glad the body guards didn't start shooting. Protest and civil rights are viewed differently in Turkey.

Diplomatic immunity!

It depends. If the protesters were on embassy property, they were technically not on US soil, but on Turkish land.

It will be interesting to see how this works out.

Their home country can revoke that immunity (rare) and we can tell them to go home. I'm guessing they'll be on the next flight anyway...

Don't get all hurt, US personal do it too. 10 years ago a US marine working at the US Embassy in Bucharest blew a stop sign and T boned a taxi killing the passenger and sending the driver to the hospital for a long period of time.

U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant Christopher Van Goethem was driving under the influence but since he had diplomatic immunity they flew him right out of the country and never got prosecuted for anything.

Just because you don't hear it, it doesn't mean it doesn't happened.

They weren't 'bodyguarding' anyone. They were retaliating. Bullies and cowards.

It's not the same type of stuff. A car accident doesn't nearly compare to the organized assault of sovereign citizens exercising free speech.

Given that US cops were trying to control the Turkish bodyguards this was on US soil.
BTW these cops aren't that effective.

They can be declared "persona non grata" and put on the next flight, correct.

Now I just know you are cherry picking...It's the same bull...foreign individuals using the diplomatic imunity card to get away with pretty much anything

The Turkish president/dictator also threatened to bomb US troops in Syria.
They are about the worst "allies" possible...would love to see them leave NATO and snuggle up with Russia, only to see themselves occupied by Russian troops before long. Not that I want to see the Russians controlling the Black Sea, but it's what Erdogan deserves.

They were probably told they couldn't really do anything to anybody in Erdogan's entourage...you'd a cop might pull a gun on a large man kicking a woman in the face repeatedly, hmm?
