Has the 2009 generation of Tahoe upgraded its old 4L60 junk transmission to something better?

I would buy one if they had something more durable, I experienced a 4L60 failure and the internet is full of 4L60 failures as well.

I always thought the 4L60s were good transmissions. I know quite a few people who use their trucks as trucks and had no problem on the original transmission and the truck ended up in the junkyard broken in half with rust.

They were good, if maintained. They fail like every other automatic... (i.e. they're all junk).

It has a 6L80E.
Some trucks got the 6L90E

My Caprice has a 6L80E. Good Transmission. The First year which was 07 had some clutch problems, everything was updated in 08.

To my knowledge the only vehicles that received the 4L80E were 3/4 ton or better and it would not have it in 09 anyway.

From reading the build specs on 2017 1500s, 6L80E is the most common transmission. The Max-Trailer option gets that transmission except in the LTZ & SLTs which gives you the 8L90E.
The 8L90E is standard with the 6.2L in 1500s & Yukon Denali with the 6.2L. The Max Trailer option also comes with lower gearing & 9.76" HD diff.in the pick-ups.
The auto transmission in the 2500 & 3500s is the 6L90E.
Now hear this.... a 10 speed & 6.2L in a 2018 Tahoe. $$$$?
