Does your car have them? They are a great feature in engines with lots of aluminum and plastic parts. The LOL was accurate enough so that when it lit, I would add a qt without even checking the stick.

On my 530i, there is a low oil warning... it needs about a quart to bring it back to full at that point.

On wife's Q5, it will even display the oil level in the dashboard.

My wife's Lancer has neither. My Mustang has both low oil and low coolant IIRC. The Tundra I'm pretty sure has neither.

One of the things I've always thought was inconsistent on the Mustang was that while it had these low-level indicators, the oil pressure "gauge" isn't a real gauge, it's hooked to a pressure switch so it indicates either okay or zero. Seems to me that if you care enough to have low coolant / oil sensors, why not a real pressure gauge?

thanks,
ben
