I just finished a 4,500 OCI in my wife's Infiniti M35 (98K miles) using Quaker State Defy 5w-30 for the first time and a Fram Pro Synthetic 7317 filter. In the drained oil, which I extracted, I was surprised to see a fair amount of tiny gunk bits or sediment.
I never saw this stuff in any of the oil changes when I used Kendall GT-1 or my homebrew Quaker State synthetic blend. The car has had regular 4,500 mile oil changes since new.
Could the Defy have that much more detergent? Could the extractor suck out more gunk from the oil pan than you'd get through the drain plug? Ideas?
