Found an old spec sheet with the following info:
Main hydraulics: SAE 10W engine oil, API CC/CD SD/SE
Torque Converter and Transmission: C-3 grade transmission fluid or SAE 10W engine oil
Wouldn't the detergents in engine oil emulsify water in the system and facilitate corrosion, rather than using an ISO hydraulic fluid?
You're right about this.
I would rather use dedicated hydraulic/transmission fluids.
However engine oil is convenient and in real life, causing no real harm with its emulsifying properties though.
