1992 ford f-250.I read that the newer mercon V is a no no for the transfer case. What to use?

My best GUESS is going to Walmart for Supertech old school DexIII/Mercon...

AAP still sells a Dexron III/Mercon ATF under the Carquest brand.

Another vote for Dex/Merc. I have used Supertech and Castrol, both worked perfect

I just went to the dealer for my old 1994 F-150 and my Excursion. They now have a specific transfer case fluid. I think I only paid around $12-$15 for the two quarts that it holds?
