There's a rumor going 'round the F1 world. Mercedes might have found a way to burn oil or oil fumes mixed with the petrol to gain a power advantage during qualifying.

This kind of stuff, if true makes one wonder what else they do for that fraction of a second advantage during qualifying.

I can just hear the team manager asking the driver if he remembered to take his lasix pill this morning and reminding the crew chief to make sure the ride height was lowered one millimeter like the engineer suggested and then make sure the oil is up to temperature before starting the engine.

The whole engine has to be above 165ºF before starting the engine of the bearing clearances are negative!
Also note: for the thin oil crowd, they race on oils in the xxW-07 range and qualify on xxW-02 range oils.

except there is no xw-07 or xw-02 oil grades so what is the actual viscosity?

A link perhaps?
