Future of California carpool/hov green stickers

They are supposed to expire end of 2018 (1st Jan 2019). Any word or wisdom on whether they will be extended ?

The expiration date is written into the law, so it would require legislation to extend. Looks like there was legislation that removed the limits on the number of stickers issued, but didn't extend the expiration.

It's a bargaining chip (the expiration). Various legislators will hold out on renewal until they get some support for a pet project. They have learned that expiration dates are good for deal making ...
