What's a good grease for mower spindles? Just good old wheel bearing grease? It's a ferris mower. Didn't mention anything about it in the manual. Dealer said general purpose grease. Has me a little concerned.

I did find a ferris manual for a different mower said to use a red grease iirc. Wasn't specific at all.

You CAN overlube your spindles.... once the grease pops past the shaft seals, you can burn up the seals and then the bearings in the hub.

I have used multi purpose grease for the spindles in all of my mowers used on the farm and never had one wear out. Personally, I see no reason to use something else.

I went with red n tacky general purpose wheel bearing and chassis grease. The spindles seemed pretty empty, usually the grease comes back out of the zerk fitting. I put about 4 pumps in each one.
