Hey all,

I recently purchased a 2014 Toyota Camry with the 2.5L motor. It has 50,000 miles on the engine.

What oil type and oil filter would you recommend for this vehicle?

Thanks

If you want to keep it simple any 0w20 oil and filter for a 5K OCI. If your interested in longer OCI options consider TGMO 0w20 (search will return may threads on TGMO 0w20). Toyota states their OEM filter is good for 10K. There are also other options.

It does not matter. Just do not follow the 10k miles OCI, 5k max.

Why 5k? I thought those engines were perfectly good for 10k on synthetic.

Why not?

If UOA seem to show it is fine at 10k, why waste the time and oil to change it twice as often?

Exactly. I just bought M1-EP oil and filter combo and will be pushing past 10k.

He's just talking out of his nether regions. A quality synthetic oil and filter would be fine for 10k/1year.

If it were my car I would run an OEM Toyota filter and Castrol EP 5W-30.

Cheapest 0w20 SN and an OEM Toyota filter (excellent quality IME), good to go for 300k+

n But M1 Ep is not synthetic oil.

I a particular scenario it may make 10k KILOMETERS. But 6-7K MILES is about it for me on a long distance commuted , well heated sump. TBN may be OK but TBN is not everything.

I did 10k miles on TGMO and an oem filter. The results couldn't have been any better via UOA. All the wear metal results were less than the universal averages which were based on 6600 miles.
