With all the new oil requirements coming out how will low cost conventional oils meet the specifications? Like say WM ST conventional and say Formula Shell? Will low cost conventional oils be forced to become more synthetic?

Perhaps they will find homes with vehicle brands that produce more economical automobiles that aren't trying to stretch service intervals to 10 or 15k?

One clue is with the new dexos1 Gen2 (current) oils listed. Synthetic Blends are making the new list. Not conventional oil though. Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Hyundai etc. will probably finally coalesce to dexos1 level standards in a couple of years, at least for turbo engines.

And a good oil.

I feel lucky--then.... Picked up 2 cases last year at HD @ 1.98/quart
Will be used for those cars coming in needing frequent OCIs to address previous neglect, & OPE.
