I was spraying the shock bolts with PB Blaster yesterday and happened to look up. I give the Blazer an 8.5 out of 10 on rust so I was very surprised to see this. I've put almost 500 miles on the truck and to think they could have gone at any minute.. ouch.

It takes 1 minute to just look.

Stuff like shackles and bumper brackets are made "batch-by-batch" by a few makers.

The metal supplied to these makers varied. Some of it was delivered in rusty condition and didn't last 2 years.

It REALLY has to be inspected often.
 
I remember long ago when Chrysler designed a convenient feature. After rust set in, you could inspect your shackles from inside the trunk.
