These cars are fast! Schumacher's 2004 time is history. It took 13 years, but they finally did it. This should be a good season if this keeps up. 9/10ths separate the first 2 rows. Should be a good race. Too bad about Ricciardo. It would have been even better if he were in the mix. These cars seem a LOT MORE unforgiving and skittish. They look a lot better as well. A much meaner profile. Poor McLaren. Still bringing up the rear.

Yeah I watched at 3 am and they were running in the 1:22s on the track there in Australia. Quite impressive indeed. Looks like Hamilton and Botas are going to be hard to beat.

They're quicker, but this year's pole lap was only 1.6s quicker than last year's at Australia. Weather wasn't quite the same, but still. Not the 4/5 second improvement that was touted. Unfortunately it looks like the gap from the front of the grid to the midfield is even bigger this year.

My DVR quit a couple minutes after Ricciardo's wreck. So I missed the last 8 minutes of Q-3. I had to go to F1.com to see the starting field.

How will it work with Ricciardo? Will he start 10th, unless he has to change an engine or gearbox?

I thought the overall lap record was set by Vettel in 2011? Schumacher's was the fastest race lap. As for Ricciardo, if he has a gearbox change, it will be a five place penalty.

They were incredibly fast and we may have alot to look forward to this season.

I think if they have to change any of those parts Red Bull will have Ricciardo start from the pit lane to avoid any kerfuffle in turn 1.
