When I was a young boy, I watched Dallas Green pitch for the Phillies at old Connie Mack Stadium. He wasn't that good, but he played on some bad Phillies teams. He became a better baseball manager and executive than he was a pitcher. It was such a shame that his 11 year old granddaughter was murdered in that Arizona shooting spree that wounded Congresswoman Gifford. Many people forget that.
RIP to one of only two managers who ever brought a World Series championship to Philadelphia.
