I have noticed looking at UOA for Nissans VQ VQ40DE V6 motors introduced in 2005 in Nissan Frontier trucks, XTerra SUV, & Pathfinder SUV as well as Nissan work vans. Reading UOA's from 2005 - aprox 2011 many 40DE motors suffered from oil shear where most 30 weight oils would really shear down to a 20 weight at reasonable OCI. Although from aprox 2011-2017 for the most part oil test results seem to show significantly less 30 weight oil shear? My question is has oil improved in this area in the last few years where oil shear is much less of an issue now then just a few years ago?

Yes, from what I've seen and read here I'd say that's a reasonable statement.

GF4 to GF5 and SAE SM to SN oil specifications came into play around 2011. People are using more synthetic oil as time goes on as well. Maybe this is changing the UOA results.
