Good-day,
this is another oil that's being considered for my next oil change.......but i cant find much information regarding how long i can go on this oil.
Also any reviews on anyone who used it before?
Its 75$ a quart WOW, so it gotta be good laugh
(where i live all oil are expensive for e.g RP is almost $100 a quart)

Nothing special about it and probably thicker than you need. Find something cheaper.

WOW...$75 a qt! I've used it in my John Deere hydrostatic transmission. It's been in there for probably 8 years and I'm not planning on changing it any time soon. Good stuff, but if I were you, I'd look for a cheaper alternative unless you're planning on running it for ALOT of miles between changes. Why 15w50 for such a mild climate?

I may be way off base here, but I think his S13 was a turbo version that was not offered in the US (and maybe didn't have an intercooler).
Am I right?

Actually, that's not so. Mobil 1, 15W-50 is a very robust oil, with a stout additive package containing the ideal levels of ZDDP and calcium. It's also perfectly suited for highly stressed turbocharged engines in hot climates (such as equatorial zones and the middle east) and has excellent HTHS values of 4.5 mPas @ 150C (302 degrees F) (ASTM D4683) Put another way, it retains excellent viscosity at extremely high temperatures.

It's unfortunate that it costs so much at your location. I can purchase a 5 quart jug (nearly 5 liters) at the local WalMart for $24 or so.


I have a turbocharged Honda S2000, making 407 RWHP, not surprisingly, it does best on M1, 15W-50.

15W-50 isn't the best oil Mobil 1 offers for turbocharger protection as it's made from cheaper base oil, since 15W-xx grades don't require excellent base oils. They only give it three stars. European formulas with better base oils -- 0W-40, 5W-50, and ESP 0W-30 -- get four stars for turbocharger protection. In addition few modern engines require xW-50 if there are any.

Regardless of what they are, their European formulations (0W-40, 5W-50, and ESP 0W-30) are made from better base oils as they need to pass the more stringent ACEA and European-OEM tests.

Their 15W-50 doesn't even meet A3/B4. I'm guessing the only reason why it's ridiculously expensive in OP's country is because it's not sold there and someone imported a few cases and decided to sell it for a lot of money.

The M1 15W50 in Oz is rated

According to the US web page, they rate it A3/B3. So either way, it's a European ACEA rated oil.

The big difference for me between A3/B3 and A3/B4 is the TBN (8 vs 10 respectively).

Yes I agree, it has no OEM certs. like M1 0W40 does, but given it carries both API SN and ACEA A3 spec., I would be more than happy to use it.

Yeah its not that popular so i guess that's why its so expensive,
my car manual states to use a xW50 oil when the temperature is above 25 degrees Celsius, so its not too thick.
For you guys Im guessing Valvoline maxlife is like around $16 us (educated guess)
In my country its 200$.
You guys get FRAM ultra(s) cheap.
The price here is 120$
