I have a set of factory 17" chrome rims that came off the Escalade a few years back. Sick of wasting space in garage I put them up for sale on CL and getting a lot of requests for pictures of the back of the rims. Uh oh that's not dirt and grease its cancer! The Chrome in the back of 2 rims is peeling off.

I peeled it off and took a wire wheel to what looks like salt. Its grinded clean now. I want to prime and paint all 4 backs before I relist them on CL. Any advice on what to use? I was thinking some filler or putty to make up the difference in the Chrome holes, some rustoleum stops rust primer, and Rustoleum gray wheel paint.

Wire brush will not go deep enough. Get a small sand blaster and nuke out the pits. JB Weld will fill the pits very nicely. It can be sanded and painted. It will not let go from a well prepped surface.

I'd get something like a light silver and soot them with a spray gun. Do a good masking job, and they should look real good

If you need larger volumes, Devcon Liquid Aluminum is good too
