Hello

I am planning to use QMI engine treatment on my next oil change for my 911 carerra S, Do anyone have experience With this stuff? A local dealer here in Norway highly recommend it for me, but i am a little sceptic, i change oil every 800 miles and uses Valvoline Synpower 5W-40 and Royal Purple oil filter

Nice ride! I never heard of the additive but did look it up. It reminds me of the original Slick 50. I'd stay clear. I do have a two questions though. You change the oil every 800 miles? What is the recommended OCI for your engine?

Its been around for a long time. No need to use it.
Put the money in a good filter and oil instead.

Hello Porscheman, and

As far as your additive....this:

seems to have similar additives as this:

http://www.slick50store.com/

And the consensus that I have seen here on BITOG is that it will do little for an otherwise healthy engine.

Yep.... 800 miles is an amazingly short oil change interval, unless it is all track/racing time. Agree that you probably don't need any additives.

Thank you for all the feedback, i change my oil at 5000 miles, not 800, sorry i was wrong there, hehe, Porsche say that OCI is 10000 miles, but the opinion from several independent Porsche specialists and owners, suggest 5000 miles as the OCI for these M96 and M97 watercooled engines, and i am staying With that regime, i use Royal Purple oil filter

My good friend has the 911s and runs M1 0w40 for 5k ... your VSP 5w40 and RP filter sound great without the addition ...
I have used VSP many times ...

I have used M1 0W-40 before, but i had high oil consumption......switching over to VSP 5W-40 and oil consumption allmoust drop to 0 i also try the RP HPS 10W-40 and oil consumption also dropped, But since RP HPS have no approvals i stick to VSP 5W-40 that have the A3/B4 and Porsche A40 approvals....some specialist say that have experienced high oil consumption i some Porsche M96 and M97 engines With M1 0W-40.....its a little strange......but first hand experience that i have With switching viscosity proved a good choiche

Sounds good ... his is pretty new/low mileage anyway ... (it is a 3rd vehicle "toy") ...
