Filter - 1991 Caprice 5.0l

We inherited Mom 's & Dad's Caprice .

The reference materials indicate a short filter . Dad found the part number for a longer filter used on Chevy pick ups & used that .

Any one know what that part # would be . Dar thought the longer filter would have more filter media and do a better job ?

I use a Fram XG5 on my 1992 5.7. It is in exactly no danger of hanging too low, even though my car has the sandwich oil cooler adapter from the factory.

If you'd rather use another brand, cross reference to Fram PH5.

I use the PH5 sized oil filter for the same reason GM decided it would be useful for the trucks. More media can't hurt.

XG5, give that ol girl some good filtration.

If the filter prescribed is an XG2, then the XG5 would be the bigger version. Both should work fine though!

AC Delco PF1218 is another part # you can use.
