If 2 oils have the exact same dexos license # does it mean they are identical? I ask because Harvest King full synthetics sold at Rural King have identical license #'s as Citgo's full synthetics. Does anybody know if Napa synthetics have identical license #'s to Valvoline Synpower since they are reported to be slightly different.

For that matter, do the digits in the Dexos license number have some meaning? For example, the Citgo 5w20 synthetic is GB1 F0415121. The Citgo manufactured Mystick brand 5w20 synthetic is GB1 F0414121. Pennzoil Ultra 5w20 is GB1D1214014. Quaker State 5w20 is GB1C1024014. Are the last few digits in the license number a manufacturer code? It might be a way to determine who makes some of these generic and store brands.

HLP:

You may be correct that the last 3 digits represent the manufacturer's code.
With Harvest King Synthetics having the EXACT same dexos code as Citgo's I'm betting they are identical (unlike Napa which is thought to have a slightly different...and inferior...make up to Valvoline Synpower even though both are made by Ashland).

At any rate the Harvest King syn. is a screaming deal at the current $10 for 5 quart jug sale....it's even a great deal at the everyday $12 for 5qt. jug price.
