Hey guys I have a family friend who bought an 88 Chevy Scottsdale and it badly needs an oil change. I tried looking up on frams website the filter number but they don't list one for a Scottsdale. Can you guys help? Also I don't know the engine or if it's the original engine that's in it.

Isn't the Scottsdale just a package level on a c/k truck?

If it is a 2-wheel drive look up a c or V series
If it is a 4-wheel drive look up a k or r series

Half ton = 10 or 15
3/4 ton = 20 or 25

For the first oil change, use a new one of what is on there now. That should give you some time to find something better. You could keep the first oil change a short one.

Trim levels don't matter when it comes to maintenance on Chevy/GMC trucks, Need to know what engine, Body style as GM produced 2 different full size trucks in 1988, & 4WD or 2WD.

The common 2WD filter for all V8 engines that year is AC-Delco PF1218.

Can you read the part number on the old filter? If you can find the number, you can cross reference it in a Fram filter catalog.
