Kendall 10w40 High Mileage Oil

I was given 10 qts of Kendall 10w40 high mileage oil. Would it be safe to run
a couple 5k mile OCIs in a 2001 Ford 4.0 SOHC engine?

A 10W-40 would be my go to for a 4.0 SOHC Ford V6. These engines tended to have timing chain issues. I see no fault in your plan. When you use it up, an SAE 30 wouldn't be a bad choice either.

My chain issue is mainly at start up when it sits for a couple of days but I'll let you
know how it works out.
