I have half a bottle of Mopar pink coolant for my 2005 Ram Hemi 5.7L. I know that I mixed some of it in some fashion (using another clear gallon jug long gone now) to make 50/50. But what I cant recall is if what is left (about half gallon) in the oem concentrate bottle is indeed concentrate or..... 50/50. I have a coolant "tester".... so what would that read for protection temps for concentrate versus 50/50 mix to try to slueth this out?

Any ideas on those numbers?

Should tell you on the jug. I think 50/50 is around -35f

I write 50/50 on the jug with a marker.

I just tested her and all 5 balls float signifying -63F or greater freeze protection so i am thinking it is full stregnth concentrates.

I usually would have also but I was out of town and may or may not had marker access.

It looks like you have a 60/40 mix.

If you're crazy enough you can actually hear the difference between 50/50 and concentrate. The water makes it sloshy sounding.

If you got extra washer fluid bottles lying around, snag the white cap and put it on your coolant jug. That's what I use to let me know its 50/50.

So I mixed a sample at 50/50 distilled and my "suspected" concentrate. It tests at 4 floating balls (-25ish) on the small tester. But on the larger prestone tester with the plastic arrow shows it at -43 protection.

So thats quite a difference between testers. LOL. So now I'm all confused but hey for wisconsin....-25F protection should be gooed enough for topping the resevior.

Full strength has *less* freeze protection than a proper glycol / water mix. You have 50/50 or 60/40. 100% glycol freezes between 0F and -5F. Never run stronger than 70/30 although check the label, you don't know what the bottled concentration is. You can find "full strength" antifreeze on the market that has already been diluted from 100% ... the do it so they can sell it a bit cheaper per jug, naturally.

Happened to me one time and had to plush. Now I have at least two markers around.
