Fluke 77 iv or Fluke 179? I've used the 77 iii/ iv at work for the last 16 years and I'm looking at purchasing a Fluke 179 or 77 for personnel use. Both are very similar. Options.

That is a great question. I had used Fluke 77s for almost 20 years and upgraded to a 179 a year or two ago.

Biggest advantage: The 179 just seems nicer. I think it's a bit more accurate and has a few little extra features, but it just seems nicer.

I'm also testing a 115, which I plan to get for my technicians, who currently use Fluke 73s and Amprobe 37XRs. The 115 does everything they need and is a bit more compact.

I have the 179. I got it because it reads frequency and I do generators.
It's been my favorite meter. Have two of them, one at work and one in my home tools for many years.

Ended up getting a Fluke 177 for a great price. Same meter as the 179 without the temperature sensor / reading.
