Except that for this bike Ducati requires 15W50, API SM, JASO MA2 oil be used without exceptions (it's in the manual). 15W50/SM/MA2 all the time, any time, if the fill cap is removed for pour-in for any reason.
Back when I had the '13 Multistrada, with similar 1198cc twin but owner manual more liberal on oil grades, I tried Rotella T Triple Protection 15W40. Had to dump it before even 200 miles of use, bike shifted like arse and more engine vibration than I'd ever felt before. Bad experience I never want to repeat !!
